Temple Judea’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah program is a comprehensive program that engages the  entire family in a meaningful B’nai Mitvzah experience. The Temple Judea community  celebrates with each student as they become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. It is truly memorable  for everyone involved.

Approximately 3 years before their 13th birthday, each student in our Religious School  will be assigned a date for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

Approximately 10 months prior to the B’nai Mitzvah, the student begins a 3 month class  to learn more about the meaning of the prayers in our Shabbat morning service. This class  is attended by the student and parent(s) to learn more about the B’nai Mitzvah process.  The remaining 7 months will be spent with an individual tutor working on their Torah and  Haftarah as well as reviewing their prayers. Each student will meet with a member of our  clergy team to study Torah and prepare a d’var Torah for their special day.

We recognize that the process of becoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a significant milestone  for the entire family. Parents are encouraged to accompany their child to lessons and  meetings with the clergy team to be fully engaged and supportive of the process.

Our entire staff stands ready with encouragement, help, and support as your family  engages in this momentous journey. Please feel free to contact our office at any time with  any questions or concerns along the way.
